Fawn Mckay

Fawn McCay Brodie was born at Ogden Utah September 15, 1915. Fawn MCKAY, who was born into the Mormon Church's First Family, utilized her writing talent as well as research abilities to create the intriguing biographical psycho-historical study of Joseph Smith. Published in 1945 under the title No Man is a Master of My History, she used both. The title came from a funeral sermon given by the founding father of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 1844, when he shocked the congregation with his words"You don't even know me." I never told you about my heart. No one knows my story. It's impossible to tell. Fawn an older woman, aged 29 wrote: "Since that moment of candor, at least three writers have picked up the task." These documents are not lacking but they do contradict one the other. It is a matter of separating personal testimony from third party plagiarism and fitting Mormon-and non-Mormon-narratives into a coherent historical facts. It is both interesting as well as an eye-opener. Such was the task to which Fawn Brodie put her professional energy into. Her writings and research brought her fame around the world: Thaddeus Stephens. The Devil drives (1959). Thomas Jefferson. The Intimate Histories (1974), and Richard Nixon.
