Walker was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a native American born with African American roots. Her parents are Harvey Welker, a Native American Father along with Julie Welker, an African American mother. She has both a Native American father as well as an African-American mother. Walker received her schooling in the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, graduating in 1994. After that, in 1998, she earned her graduation from Harvard College with a Bachelor's degree. Welker has been happily married for more than 20 years with John Hughes who is a prominent marketing director for Merck Philadelphia. The couple have two kids. They started an affair in 2014. John her husband, is four years her junior. The couple was getting along enough that they decided to take this to the next level. On the 4th March 2017, they were married. Philadelphia Pennsylvania was the location for the wedding. The ceremony took place in The Hyatt in Philadelphia. A few close family members and friends were invited. Around 300 guests were invited.
