Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She was the founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of more than 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news site and a television host, author, and philanthropist. Born in Greece then moved to England at age 16. At Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA of Economics. As the first foreign student to hold the position of president of the highly regarded debating group The Cambridge Union, at 21 years old she took on the role. She became a syndicated conservative writer following graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a year after, she created an online platform to voice opinions with a critique of current the political landscape. Her popularity allowed her to persuade a number of famous people to share their opinions about current affairs, as well as politics and culture. Arianna rose to fame in 2003 when she decided to run as an independent candidate in the California recall election in order to succeed the Governor Davis. Additionally, she was involved in a Detroit-based project that promoted cars that are fuel efficient. In 2009 she was named by Forbes as the most influential female media personality, taking the 12th position on their list. The same year, the Guardian listed her on the top 100 of media lists. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of their media company that also includes the other AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos is the daughter born to Konstantinos a management advisor and a journalist. While she enjoyed a strong connection to her mother and father, it was their bond that helped shape her. In her earliest period, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which her name is still well-known. When she was 16 she relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman and the only foreign president. In 1972, she earned an honorary degree in Economics. Following her graduation, she was employed as a critic for a newspaper column and an anchor on TV. She also appeared alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editorial assistance.
